Concept of status updates
Status updates are designed to be simple text messages about how a matter is progressing. eg: "I'm working on this matter this week" or "Matter is with ABC for XYZ".
Who receives status updates?
Status updates are sent and received by the Matter manager (and their delegates) and the Matter owner (and their delegates).
If you don't wish to receive status updates then you can toggle that setting in your notifications area.
Sending a status update
Status updates can be sent in a number of ways:
- Directly in the status update area of a matter
- Directly from the matter row in a matter grid/list.
- Replying to an existing status update from email
Sending a status update from a matter
Clicking this option will open a small window where you can enter a status update. This functions like a simplified chat window. Over time, you'll see a history of status updates here too.
Sending a status update from a matter grid
NOTE: Make sure that you have the 'Status update' column in your grid - if it's not there, you can add it by following the method shown here.
Just click into any matter list and click onto the 'plus' icon in the 'Last status update' column.
The same pop-up window will appear where you can add a status update.
Replying to an existing status update from email
If you've received an email notification of a status update - you can simply reply to that email and your reply will be captured as a status update on that matter too.
Requesting a status update
In the same places where you send a status update, you can request a status update.
This is available when working on a matter and also from the 'Status update' column in the matter grid. You can access 'status update' from the matter grid only if you are a member of the matter.
