LawVu Add-In - Deployment through Office365 Admin Centre
If LawVu users are unable to install the Outlook and Word Add-ins themselves, then they can often be installed and deployed like any other Microsoft Office Store add-In by utilizing the Office365 admin center.
Required Permissions
In order to streamline the installation and first use of the LawVu for Outlook add-in by your users, we recommend preemptively consenting to the required API permissions on behalf of all users who will require this add-in.
Permission | Purpose |
User.Read (delegated) Sign in and read user profile | Used to sign in the user to the LawVu for Outlook |
Mail.ReadWrite (delegated) Read and write access to user mail
| Used to read mail to support uploading of content, attachments and metadata (subject, sender, recipients) to LawVu and to add categories to emails that have been tracked or saved |
offline_access (delegated) Maintain access to data you have given it access to | Used to allow background email tracking to run when the user is not actively using their Outlook |
Optional Permissions for Shared Mailbox support
The LawVu for Outlook add-in supports shared mailboxes without the email tracking features. However, additional permissions must be consented to before using the add-in with a shared mailbox.
Permission | Purpose |
User.ReadBasic.All (delegated) | Used to read basic information about the shared mailbox when processing messages |
Mail.ReadWrite.Shared (delegated) | Used to read mail to support uploading of content, attachments and metadata (subject, sender, recipients) to LawVu and to add categories to emails that have been tracked or saved for shared mailboxes |
Please note that LawVu's mail tracking features are not supported in shared mailboxes.
Consenting the Add-in
Consent for the permissions is requested dynamically when a user signs into the Add-in for the first time.
Depending on your Microsoft 365 configuration, there are also other options to consent:
Allow users to consent to the permissions when prompted - Configure how users consent to applications - Microsoft Entra | Microsoft Learn
Admin consent all users in your organization - Grant tenant-wide admin consent to an application - Microsoft Entra | Microsoft Learn.

Consenting the Add-in to use optional shared mailbox features
When a user attempts to use the Add-in with a shared mailbox message, they are dynamically asked for further consent to API permissions required for the Add-in to access the shared mailbox.
In addition to the steps in Consenting the Add-in, the following options are available to consent for shared mailbox permissions:

In the Office 365 Admin Centre, go to Settings, then Integrated Apps. Click on Get Apps:
Search for LawVu:
Select the target user or a user group:
This will automatically deploy the Add-in to the selected users and will make it available in Outlook or Word.
Please Note:
If the Add-In is unavailable after the deployment for the users, please check if there are any security policies across the organization or on individual user machines that would prevent access to the Microsoft Office Add-In Store or the use of the Outlook Add-In.
