In this article:
Requirements
đ File Format
The file must be in .PPTX format in order to open and edit it in PowerPoint on the web (Office 365).
Note: Files with the older .PPT format are not supported and will not work with this functionality.
đ Office 365 Account
An active Office 365 account is required to use PowerPoint on the web.
How it works
To get started, select a PowerPoint file within a matter or contract, click the ellipsis (three-dot) menu, and choose Edit with PowerPoint on the web.
Alternatively, you can access the same option from the file preview window by clicking the ellipsis menu and selecting Edit with PowerPoint on the web
A new browser tab will open, and the file will begin loading in PowerPoint on the web (Office 365). This may take a few moments.
Once the document is open, you can begin editing. Your changes will be saved automatically as you work. When youâre finished, make sure you see the âSaved to LawVuâ confirmationâthen you can safely close the browser tab.
Back in LawVu, youâll see both the current and previous versions of the file. Changes made in PowerPoint on the web are automatically saved as a new version in LawVu. Youâll be able to view, download, or delete both the current and earlier versions.
To avoid clutter from multiple versions, any edits made within 10 minutes of the first change are grouped into a single saved version. This helps streamline version history, as PowerPoint treats every edit as a new version by default.
Note: The Edit with PowerPoint on the web option will not work for password-protected files or older PowerPoint formats (e.g., .ppt
). In those cases, youâll see an error message.
For password-encrypted files, you have the following options:
Download the file and edit it using your PowerPoint desktop application.
Remove the file encryption, re-upload it to LawVu, and then edit it using PowerPoint on the web.
Re-save the file in the latest PowerPoint format (.pptx), upload it to LawVu, and then edit it with PowerPoint on the web.
