Export Templates allow administrators to upload Word (DOCX) files that define the layout of reports exported from LawVu Draft.
These templates control the appearance and formatting of exported reports.
Why use custom templates?
Custom templates allow you to apply your own house style to exported reports. For example, you can include:
Your preferred fonts and colours
A front page or cover page
Custom headings and formatting
Upload a template
Go to Administration / Export Templates.
2. Select or drag and drop a Word (DOCX) file into the upload area.
3. Enter a title for the template.
This title will appear in the export dropdown menu for end users.
4. Select the module the template will be used for:
Template requirements
The most important requirement is ensuring that the Word document uses the correct styles. The sample templates include detailed explanations of what you need to do.
LawVu Draft inserts report content based on specific Microsoft Word styles defined in the template.
For example, in the templates used for reviewing reports, ClauseBuddy expects requirement titles to use the “CBReqTitle” style, while the titles for extracted data must use the “CBDataTitle” style.
Using the sample templates
You can download sample templates using the Download samples button in the top-right corner.
These samples include:
The required style names
Detailed explanations of how the template should be structured
Recommended approach
If you do not have strict house style requirements - Start from the sample template without explanations. Adjust the styles in Microsoft Word to match your branding.
If you already have a house-style template - Modify your existing template so that it includes the required LawVu Draft style names.
💡 Tip: Copying and pasting paragraphs that use the “CB…” style names from the provided samples into your own document is usually sufficient to create those styles in the target document.
