LawVu Draft – Quick Start Guide

This guide helps new users get started quickly with LawVu Draft, the AI‑powered drafting and review toolbox embedded directly in Microsoft Word.

Note: Your IT team may need to help, so it's great to start the conversation early.

New users are encouraged to attend a LawVu Draft Introductory Session to understand how Draft works and how to start using it effectively.

Introductory sessions provide:

  • An overview of LawVu Draft and how it operates inside Microsoft Word

  • Live demonstrations of commonly used tools

  • Guidance on which tools to start with and when to explore more advanced features

3. Recommended Tools to Start With

The LawVu Draft toolbox contains over 25 powerful tools designed specifically for optimizing legal workflows. To immediately improve drafting, review, and document quality, start with these high impact tools:

Use Proofreading to run a final quality check on your active document before sharing or signing.

Ideal use cases:

  • Catching undefined or unused defined terms

  • Identifying broken cross‑references

  • Flagging numbering, date, and placeholder issues

Use Document Cleanup to technically clean and standardise documents without changing legal content.

Ideal use cases:

  • Removing extra spaces and empty paragraphs

  • Accepting or rejecting all tracked changes at once

  • Applying reusable cleanup operation sets to documents received from other parties

Use Summarise Changes to clearly understand what has changed between two versions of a document.

Ideal use cases:

  • Reviewing tracked changes and comments quickly

  • Comparing documents where tracked changes were not used

  • Prioritising changes based on importance

Use Doc Chat to ask questions about your document and receive answers grounded in the text.

Ideal use cases:

  • Quickly understanding obligations, rights, and key terms

  • Asking questions across one or multiple documents

  • Navigating long or complex agreements more efficiently

Use Draft New Text to generate new clauses or sections based on drafting instructions.

Ideal use cases:

  • Producing first drafts of clauses

  • Iterating on draft language before inserting

  • Preserving formatting and numbering when adding text to your document

4. Next Steps

Once you are comfortable with one or two tools, consider more advanced features, such as Playbooks. LawVu Draft is designed to be adopted progressively; start small, build confidence, and expand as your needs evolve.
