Configure AI extraction for your contract types

In order to extract key data from executed contracts, LawVu Administrators first need to enable and set up this feature for their organization.

To do so, navigate to Settings > Contract Management > Contract AI data extraction.

Toggle the 'Contract data extraction' option and decide for which contract types you want this feature to apply.

To speed up the setup process, we automatically apply 10 commonly used fields to all contract types, but you can replace any of these with other fields from the full AI fields library. Please refer to the list at the bottom of the article for our recommended options.

Now, we will configure the fields that we want to extract for each contract type that has extraction enabled. Go to Settings > Contract management > Contract types and select the AI Fields tab for your chosen contract type.

Select the Edit Fields option to start looking for the fields you want to be extracted.

1 ➡ The selected fields panel displays the fields you have selected for extraction once the contract is executed (up to a maximum of 20).

2 ➡ Enter relevant keywords in the search bar to look for other AI fields.

3 ➡ You can apply additional filters to narrow down the results.

4 ➡ After identifying a field that you wish to extract for the specific contract type, click on the '+ Add field' button.

You can repeat these steps until you have selected a maximum of 10 fields. If you no longer wish to extract a particular field, you can remove it from the 'Selected fields' panel.

From now on, whenever a contract of this type becomes Executed, the selected fields will be extracted automatically.

To learn how to perform the contract extraction, check this article.

Notes

  • Automatic clause extraction works for all executed contracts, no matter how they were created (via LawVu, Wizard, Outlook plug-in, etc), or who they were created by (e.g. Standard User, Contract Contributor, etc).

  • Standard Users (no Full Contract Access) - will not have Data Review Column in their Business Portal Grid. If they have the 'Contract Create' permission, they'll be able to create contracts that when executed, will be sent for extraction. For now, users with Full Contract Access or Contract Admin permissions will need to review these results.

Top 10 field recommendations for each contract type

Below you'll find a list of commonly used or recommended fields, specific to each of the contract types, compiled from the full AI fields library, to give you a head start.

We suggest reviewing the list, and then identifying and selecting the ones that align with your requirements and needs.
