Managing users

💡 Tip: Use profiles to manage permissions

If many users share the same permissions, consider using profiles instead of configuring permissions for each user individually.

Profiles allow administrators to create predefined sets of permissions and assign them to multiple users. This makes permission management easier and ensures consistency across teams.

Use profiles when:

  • Many users share the same permission settings

  • Permissions need to be managed centrally

  • You want to update permissions for multiple users at once

Use individual user settings when:

  • A user needs unique or temporary permissions

  • Only a small number of users require different access

👉 See Managing profiles for more information.

Manage users

To manage users in LawVu Draft, go to Administration / Users.

Editing a user's details

To update a user’s details, simply click on the user and edit the relevant fields, such as their name or email address.

Clause curators

You can designate certain users as Clause curators.

These users receive clauses submitted by others, review them, clean them up if needed, and add them to the library. This role is typically assigned to experienced team members who oversee the quality of the clause library.

Anonymous accounts

You can also create anonymous accounts. These accounts are not linked to a specific person and can be used by third parties to access documents or templates without logging in with a personal account.

Multiple anonymous accounts can be created with different configurations. For example, one account may provide access to corporate governance content in French, while another may show employment-related content in English.

Personal search folder

The Personal search folder option gives a user their own private search folder in the Quality Library. Content in this folder is only visible to that user.

Disabling accounts

If a user should no longer have access, you can disable their account. This effectively deactivates the user.

Disabled accounts remain visible in the system and can be reviewed later by selecting Show disabled users at the top of the screen.

Groups

By clicking Groups, you can see which groups a user belongs to. If you want to change group memberships, you should do so in the Groups management section.

Security Codes

The Security Codes section shows all login codes assigned to a user. From here, you can create new codes and choose how long they remain valid.

You can set codes to expire after a set period (for example hours, days, or weeks) or remain active indefinitely.

Rights and Preferences

  • In the Rights section, you can assign or remove permissions for each user. This allows you to control which features and actions are available to them.\

  • The Preferences tab lets you adjust personal settings such as language and currency.

Permissions can also depend on Access Bundles, which control access to individual items such as clauses, folders, templates, or Clause Hunt lockers.
