Not every file type can be previewed in LawVu - here's why

Whenever you upload a file (or a new version of a file) to LawVu, a PDF version of that file gets generated to use as a preview.

This works well in most cases and allows you to look through (and even search through) the file without downloading it. However, there are some cases where the preview may not work.

These include:

  • When you have just uploaded a new file. Since it can take a few moments for LawVu to generate a PDF version for preview, if your file isn't appearing right away, try again in a few moments, and you should be able to preview the file as expected.

  • If the file size exceeds 20MB, you will need to download the file to your desktop and open it from there to view the contents.

  • When the file is an uncommon file type, we may not be able to generate a PDF version for use in our preview pane. Try downloading the file to your desktop and opening it to view the contents. Click here to view the supported document formats for the LawVu Preview.

  • If the file is protected, for example, a password-protected PDF file. Try downloading it to your desktop and opening it with a PDF reader such as Adobe Acrobat to supply the password and view the document.
