What is LawVu Teams?
LawVu Teams enables you to organize your people into distinct groups, give them names, then define rules around which matters or contracts are automatically assigned to them. You can also build and maintain hierarchies that govern which teams have visibility over other teams' matters.
Typically, the named people on a matter (or contract) are called "members." As well as being physically listed on the matter, members are assumed to be playing an active part in its progression and will receive notifications about the matter activity.
LawVu Teams allow groups of people to have visibility over a matter without necessarily being a member. This reduces unnecessary clutter and noise in your daily workflow by enabling you to access a larger pool of matters without adding them to your My Matters list or receiving their notifications.

How to manually grant team access to a matter or contract
Access to a matter or contract can be assigned to a team at any time. Simply go to the Security tab and grant access to the desired team using the dropdown selector.
Be aware this only grants access to the team. If the item is a matter, it will now appear in the team members' All Matters list. Only if individuals get added as members will it appear in their My Matters list.
The same method holds true when granting team access to a contract.
How to link multiple teams
Teams can also be delegated access to other teams' matters. The diagram below depicts a scenario whereby Team 1 and 2 each have their private pool of matters, yet they also maintain visibility over Team 3's matters.
There is also the option to link multiple teams together so that, for example, matters sent to Local Team 1 can be visible to Regional Team 2 via inheritance. In turn, Regional Team 2's matters can also be rendered visible to Central Team 3 via its own inheritance. Visibility only occurs down the hierarchy, not up.
In this way, your central legal team can maintain visibility over its regional satellite legal departments without having to be added to all their matters.
Visibility only extends to a single tier. For example, if your central legal team wishes to retain oversight on all matters being handled at both local and regional levels, they can be linked at multiple tiers. Again, visibility only occurs down the hierarchy, not up.
To link teams together via delegated access:
Ensure your role is Administrator.
Go to Organization Settings / User Management / Teams.
Select the desired team.
Click the Settings tab beside Members.
Go to the Access Control section and search for other appropriate teams. The selected teams will then also be granted access to matters assigned to this team.
Frequently Asked Questions
What if I only want certain members of my team to be able to view a matter or contract?
By granting access to a team, every person on that team will have visibility over a matter. To limit who is able to access a matter or contract, it must be Restricted.
โ
To restrict a matter, navigate to the Security tab and select the Restrict matter button.
Once a matter has been restricted the team assignment is overridden and it can only be viewed by those listed on the Members tab.
How does LawVu Intake work within the Teams structure?
A matter can be automatically or manually assigned to a team upon creation. The team member with Intake Manager permission enabled will then assume responsibility for assigning the Matter Manager role to a specific lawyer.
Be aware that there is only one Intake stream. Even if a matter has been assigned to a team, if it has not been allocated a Matter Manager it will still enter the organization's Intake stream.
There is no separate Intake stream for each team.
How do I remove someone from a team?
To remove a team member:
Ensure your role is Administrator.
Go to Organization Settings / User Management / Teams
Select the desired team.
On the Members tab, click the "x" for the team member you wish to remove
