Enhanced invoice approval workflow

Invoice approval workflows just got a major upgrade, with a whole host of updates designed to give you more flexibility. It's now easier to set up workflows that match your organization's structure, however complex, while keeping the oversight your policies, auditors, and regulators expect.

What's new:

  • Smarter conditions: Build simple or advanced conditions using fee value, invoice original total, matter urgency, and matter fields, so each invoice follows the right path.

  • Parallel approvals: Let multiple teams approve simultaneously to keep invoices moving.

  • Add or remove approvers on the fly: Someone on leave? Add a stand-in or remove them directly on the invoice.

  • Automatic updates when a matter type changes: Pending invoices automatically pick up the new matter type's workflow, with no voiding or support tickets needed.

  • Governance controls: Admins can lock phases from editing, prevent phases from being skipped or removed, cut or duplicate phases, and use roles as approver categories. You get flexibility without losing control.

Note: Your existing workflows have moved over automatically, and in-progress, approved, and declined invoices look exactly the same. Update your workflows whenever you're ready, and new invoices will follow the new setup.

See instantly whether an invoice was sent to Accounts Payable

When your AP team says an invoice never arrived, you can now check in seconds. Simply add the new column to your invoices grid to see whether the invoice email was sent to Accounts Payable. If it shows as forwarded, the email may have been caught by a spam filter or security setting, and your IT team can help track it down.

Business users can now add colleagues to their matters and contracts

Business teams can now bring the right people into the matters and contracts they own, either while creating the record or afterward. Collaboration moves faster, and your legal team spends less time on admin.

More flexibility for the business doesn't mean less control. On restricted records, Add Members is disabled for Standard Users, even if they own the record, to keep restricted work protected.

For Admins, read this help article to learn more. You can also share this help article with your business users.

Please note: This setting is off by default. An Org Admin can switch it on at the organization level, so your legal team stays in control of when it goes live.

A task grid that keeps you focused on what's next

Your enhanced task grid now puts your active work front and center, and you can shape it around how you work.

  • Focused on active work: To-do tasks show by default and completed tasks are hidden. If needed, you can still bring completed tasks into view.

  • Updates as you go: When you mark a task as complete, the grid refreshes automatically and the task moves out of your active view.

  • Your columns, your way: Add, remove and reorder task fields from a wider range of options, so the grid shows the information that matters most to your workflow.

Save your task grid views and get back to work faster

Set up your task grid once and return to it in a click. Saved grid views remember your columns, filters, sort order, and column widths, giving you more flexibility in how you organize, manage, and track your work.

What's new:

  • Save view: Keep your preferred grid setup, including columns, filters, sort order, and column widths

  • Save view as: Copy an existing view and tailor it to a different use case, with the original left intact

  • Manage views: Rename, duplicate, or delete saved views, and add them to the Hub for quick access to the layouts you use most

Activity logs that show more at a glance

Reviewing what's happened on a record is now easier, with more room and more detail visible at once.

  • More space for activity details: A slimmer Timeline panel gives the Activity table more room

  • Full details in view: Long descriptions, usernames and file names wrap within their columns, so you can read them at a glance

You'll find these improvements across all activity logs in LawVu: matter, contract, account, RFP and user.
