What are the differences between LawVu managed DocuSign and using your own account?

Firstly it's important to know whether your company is using their own DocuSign account or LawVu's.

With LawVu managed DocuSign, you won't need to log in separately, as it's shared among our clients using LawVu. While access is limited, you can conveniently use the signing panel to monitor your contract/document status, send reminders, void the envelope etc. Moreover, there's a cost advantage to using our DocuSign account compared to having your own.

On the flip side, if you choose to sign up directly with DocuSign, you gain complete control over your account with access to a broader range of features based on your selected plan. You'll be able to log in to DocuSign to track contract statuses, download completion certificates, update email addresses, and more.

How do I download the certificate of completion?

To access the completed document, find the email from DocuSign confirming all parties have signed. Once located, click on View Completed Document.

You will be redirected to the DocuSign portal, where you will see the completed document. Click on Other Actions and select View Certificate.

If you no longer have the email, and you're using the LawVu managed DocuSign, reach out to the Support team through the chat button at the bottom left of the screen, and we'll send you the certificate of completion.

How do I send a reminder for a document I sent for signing?

If you are using LawVu managed DS: Only the person that sent the contract to DocuSign can send reminders. Go to the matter or contract from where you sent the file for signing, and click on the Signing panel on the right hand side of the screen.

Then, select the file and click on Remind.

If you're using your own DocuSign account, log in your account to send reminders.

I want to cancel a document I sent for signing

If you are using LawVu managed DS - to cancel the envelope, you need to void it from LawVu. Go to the matter or contract from where you sent the file for signing, and click on the Signing panel on the right hand side of the screen. Then, select the file and click on Void.

If you're using your own DocuSign account, log in your account to cancel the envelope.

I want to see the date and hour the document was signed

With managed DocuSign, you can easily show the date and time when a document is signed by adding the "Date Signed" field to your document.

This is a great field to use to eliminate any confusion arising from time zone differences, ensuring clarity on when documents are signed.

The best place to add the “Date Signed” field is under the signature to avoid trimming of the time and zone in cases where the field is placed too close to the edge of the file.

I don't see the DocuSign Signing panel in LawVu

If you don't see the DocuSign panel on the top right of your contract, that is because your company is using their own DocuSign account ( not LawVu's ). You will need to contact one of your administrators that has access to the DS account to check the signatures, send reminders, download envelopes etc.

Why am I not receiving DocuSign email notifications?

Did someone send you a document via email, but you haven't received it?

Our LawVu Support Team can confirm whether the email was properly sent from LawVu to DocuSign. If it was sent correctly and you've checked your Spam, Junk, and Trash folders without finding the email, then check out the steps in this article for a detailed guide on what to do: Why am I not getting DocuSign email notifications?

Keep in mind that email notifications come from DocuSign, not LawVu.

Can I send multiple documents for signing as part of the same envelope ?

If you are using LawVu managed DocuSign, it is not yet possible to send multiple documents for signing as part of the same envelope. If you would like this enhancement, make sure to communicate it to your CSM or contact the Support team.

If you are using your own DocuSign account, you can add multiple documents to an envelope. However, the integration with LawVu is built around getting a specific file executed (usually the main contract document or a document from the Files tab of a matter).

Because LawVu needs to receive back the executed copy from DS and update the file in LawVu with this executed version, only the first document in the envelope you send for signature returns to LawVu. This means that if you add some other document, for example a separate cover page document as FYI for the signatories, you should ensure it is the second file in the envelope. If you make a cover page the first file, you will not see a copy of the executed file back in LawVu, you will instead have replaced your contract with a copy of this cover page.
