How to restrict a folder
Note: A restricted folder will not be visible to people who haven't been explicitly added to that folder, and its contents will not appear in any search results.
Any subfolders or files within that folder will also be restricted.
Navigate to the Files tab of a matter or contract and find the folder you want to make Restricted. Click the ellipsis menu when hovering over the folder row.
A contextual menu will appear, and you can choose the Manage access option:
Three access levels determine the visibility of the files. To make the folder restricted, choose the Restricted access level.
Once you have chosen the Restricted access level, click into the search box. Any individuals who are members of the record will appear, as will any teams that were auto-added as members, or any teams given ownership of matters or contracts of that type.
You can read this article to learn more about teams and how team membership affects access to records.
Note: The People Picker will only allow you to select users/teams with access to the record. If they don't have access, your search will display 'No results'.
When you restrict a folder, you will be automatically added to it, allowing you to manage it. Click Save once you've added all the necessary people.

Manage a restricted folder
Restricted folders are only visible to the people who have been added to them and have a lock icon next to them, indicating that they are Restricted.
If you hover over the lock icon, it will show who has access to the folder.
To make a Restricted folder public again, click the Manage access option and change the folder's access level to General. It will automatically revert to public and be accessible to anyone with access to the matter/contract.
