Supported Document Formats for the LawVu Preview

Adobe Documents - *.pdf

Microsoft Word - *.doc, *.dot *.docx, *.docm, *.dotx, *.dotm *.rtf

Microsoft Excel XML format - *.xlsx, *.xlsm, *.xltx, *.xltm

Microsoft PowerPoint format - *.ppt, *.pot, *.pps

Email files - *.msg, *.eml

Password-protected or digitally signed documents cannot be previewed in LawVu.


If you try to view an unsupported format, you will be prompted to download the file to your local machine to view and edit

The LawVu previewer is supported on Chrome, MS Edge, Firefox, and Safari.


File Tags and History

Keep your files organized by tagging them so you can surface them better in search results. Type the desired tag name into the Tags box. As you type, the system will auto-prompt existing tags. Either click on the suggested title or insert a new one. For more information on how to use tags, click here.

Under History, you'll find a record of actions taken on the file, such as when it was previewed, when a tag was added, when a new file version was updated, and so on.

You can also download or delete previous versions from the ellipses menu.


Actions

The Actions button provides various ways to work with the file, such as downloading, emailing, or sending it for signing.


Preview Advanced Search features

The LawVu previewer offers in-app search functionality, with word search highlighted within the document making things easy to find. Advanced search options are available from the toolbar within the preview window.

  • Use quotation marks to search for exact word/phrase-matching

  • Search words using lower/uppercase

  • Search the whole word only

  • Words that begin with/end with

  • Wildcard support - use an asterisk as a suffix placeholder and click the Use Wildcards button to search for all results containing a partial term. For example, searching law* would return lawful, lawyer, lawless, etc.

  • Proximity search to search for phrases within a number of words from each other.


Copying Text

Use the Select Text button to enable text highlighting, allowing you to copy/paste text directly from the document.
