It’s time to upgrade your Outlook add-in
The newest version of the Outlook add-in is packed with awesome features and the old one is going away. If you or anyone on your team has not already upgraded to the latest version of the LawVu add-in for Outlook, now is the time. Here's what you need to know:
After November 30th, 2022, the old Outlook add-in will be deprecated and will no longer work.
The new version of Outlook has improved functionality to further enhance the way legal teams capture work and file emails into LawVu.
Here are some key improvements with the new LawVu add-in for Outlook:
Conveniently track email replies automatically to a matter or contract so new emails are automatically updated in LawVu.
No longer limited to matters only, you can now create new contracts and save emails to the files tab in a contract. Plus, you can easily save email attachments such as red-lined or fully signed contracts as an updated version of a contract document to simplify document management.
When selecting the ‘Save in LawVu as’ option, you have more options in the new add-in. You can continue to save replies and forwards automatically, or save the email as a file, as well as save attachments as files to both LawVu matters and contracts.
To get the upgrade and ensure there’s no loss of functionality, users need to install the latest version of the add-in from the Microsoft Office Store.
A notification appears on the old version so it’s easy to know which version is in use and whether installing the new version is necessary; users will see this when they launch the legacy version (V1):
Users who are already using the latest version will not see the banner above and do not need to take action.

Easier way to assign or reassign matters or contracts
You always have the option to assign or reassign matters to other members of your legal team directly from the grid. Good news—now you can do it in bulk so you can save time.
What’s new:
You can assign or reassign matter owners and managers, including removing them as members, in bulk, directly from the grid.
If visible to you, you can add members to matters and contracts from the grid.
Assignees will only receive a single notification when matters or contracts are assigned to them, reducing noise and distraction from email notifications. When they click on the notification, they will see a temporary grid listing the matters and contracts assigned to them so they have everything in one place.
Automatically join matters and contracts
Until now, to access the details of matters and contracts you had to add yourself as a member manually. That’s so October 2022! Now you have the option to automatically join matters and contracts – a faster way to ensure you can access important details and receive notifications.
It’s easy to enable this functionality: a pop-up window will appear the next time you join a matter or contract; simply check the box and you'll automatically be added as a matter or contract member in the future. You can also enable auto-join from your profile setting.
If at any point, you no longer want to be automatically added as a member, you can undo your preference from your profile settings.

Now you can:
Add new columns to your contracts grid such as contract executed date, other party information, and the contract creation method (upload, wizard, or import).
Add matter and contract status to your matter or contracts grid so you can manage them more efficiently without having to view them individually.
If you are using the Engage module, now you can decline non-LEDES type invoices and provide a decline reason. Read this article to learn how to approve or decline invoices.
And – one more treat: The approval notification banner no longer appears on top of the contracts page once a contract expires.
